There’s something magical about being on the open water, feeling the wind in your hair and the sun on your face. But before you can channel your inner sea captain there’s one essential step to take: training and we’re here to tell you it’s more fun than you might think.
Whether you’re itching to stretch your legs across the bay or cruise around the islands in style, powerboat training at The Boat Club is the ultimate gateway to mastering the art of boating. Our aim is to make your experience safe and enjoyable as possible.
Safety first
To ensure you become a safe and responsible boater, we start with the fundamentals. All members undergo RYA Powerboat Level II training with our trusted partners, Harbour Sea School who are based at the marina with us. With no prior experience required, our expert instructors will guide you through the course, teaching you the skills to feel confident and in control behind the helm.
Aye Aye Captain
Get to know your boat collection. As part of our training, you’ll also attend an induction day with a member of The Boat Club crew. They’ll walk you through our bespoke members app, booking process and get you on the water in no time. This is the perfect opportunity to get familiar with our collection of boats and receive an initial helping hand.
Unwavering Support
Harbour Sea School provides ongoing support every step of the way, from your first day on a boat to advanced use of The Clubs larger vessels. Our instructors share a passion for boating and take pride in supporting your progression through tailored training sessions, whether it’s small group lessons or one-on-one coaching. As a member of The Boat Club, you’ll have the opportunity to meet like-minded boaters, share experiences and learn from each other. Throughout the year, we offer optional and short training sessions on popular topics such as anchoring, planning a passage, close quarter manoeuvring, and more.
Support from our Bosuns
Our dedicated team of bosuns are on hand from morning to night to ensure you receive the support you need on and off the water. Whether you have questions or need assistance, we’re always here to help.

A bespoke concierge service
As a member of The Boat Club, you’ll enjoy a fully bespoke in-house support and concierge service. You may wish to relax and book a captain for your day out on the water. We can take care of this, one of our qualified captains will skipper your Boat Club vessel for the day, enhancing your enjoyment and relaxation. Our team are also on hand to help with restaurant reservations at a selection of our luxury lifestyle partner locations including Rick Steins Sandbanks , The Hut, Isle of White, The Priory hotel, Wareham, The Nici, Bournemouth, Shell Bay, St Tropez Lounge, Studland and The Chewton Glen Hotel and Spa in Hampshire.
